Professor Jude A. Oben is a leading Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist in Central London, renowned for his expertise in liver disease, digestive disorders, and metabolic health. Prof Oben’s research has significantly influenced current guidelines for the diagnosis and management of fatty liver disease and metabolic syndrome.

In his NHS role at University College London Hospitals (UCLH), Prof Oben manages complex hepatology cases and leads specialist clinics for metabolic liver disease. His research laboratory investigates the biological links between obesity, metabolic disorders, and liver injury, with the aim of developing new treatments and preventive strategies.

On the back of a very productive period at Johns Hopkins he was awarded a Wellcome Trust Intermediate Fellowship funding on returning to London. His research has remained productive. He is currently a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London and Edinburgh; a Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association and a Fellow of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases. He specializes in Metabolic Health especially as it applies to the Liver and Type 2 Diabetes.
