Private ERCP in Central London
At LSDC Healthcare, we provide fast access to private ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography) in Central London, performed by senior consultant gastroenterologists with specialist training in pancreatic and biliary procedures.
Â
Our clinic is located just two minutes from Liverpool Street Station, giving patients and professionals a discreet, central London setting for advanced diagnosis and treatment of bile duct and pancreatic disorders.
What Is ERCP?
ERCP combines endoscopy and fluoroscopic X-rays to diagnose and treat conditions of the:
Bile ducts
Gallbladder
Pancreas
Liver drainage system
During ERCP, a flexible endoscope is passed into the duodenum, where a contrast dye is introduced into the bile and pancreatic ducts, followed by X-ray imaging.Â
Â
If needed, treatments such as stone removal or stent placement are carried out immediately.
Who Might Need ERCP?
Your consultant may recommend ERCP if you have:
Gallstones lodged in the bile duct
Obstructive jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes due to blockage)
Biliary strictures (narrowing of the bile ducts)
Pancreatic strictures, leaks, or cysts
Unexplained pancreatitis
Suspicion of tumours in the bile duct or pancreas
What Conditions Can ERCP Treat or Diagnose?
Gallstones blocking bile ducts
Cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer)
Pancreatic cancer or strictures
Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction
Biliary leaks (post-surgery or trauma)
Chronic pancreatitis complications
ERCP is both diagnostic and therapeutic, meaning it can often resolve the problem immediately rather than requiring a second procedure.

Why might I need an ERCP?
Common reasons include gallstones in the bile duct, jaundice due to obstruction, strictures or narrowing, chronic pancreatitis, and suspected tumours.
Is ERCP painful?
No. The procedure is done under sedation. Some patients may feel mild bloating or sore throat afterwards, but pain is uncommon.
How long does ERCP take?
Most ERCP procedures take 30–60 minutes, depending on whether therapeutic treatment (such as stone removal) is performed.
What are the risks of ERCP?
Risks include pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas), bleeding, infection, and perforation, though serious complications are uncommon. Your consultant will discuss risks with you.
When will I get my results?
