ABOUT ME

I am Dr George Goodchild, a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Interventional Endoscopist at The Royal London Hospital, The London Clinic, and Liverpool St Digestive Centre. I specialise in gastrointestinal and liver issues, and perform procedures like colonoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound. As a certified bowel cancer screening colonoscopist, I detect and remove pre-cancerous polyps. My focus includes pancreatobiliary medicine, and I have published extensively on advanced endoscopy.

Experience

Dr George Goodchild is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Interventional Endoscopist based at The Royal London Hospital, The London Clinic and Liverpool St Digestive Centre. He has a specialist interest in the diagnosis and treatment of common gastrointestinal and liver problems including heartburn, difficulties with eating and swallowing, altered bowel habits including constipation and diarrhoea, rectal bleeding, abdominal bloating and pain and abnormal liver blood tests. He is a certified UK bowel cancer screening colonoscopist, specialising in the detection and removal of bowel polyps before they turn cancerous. 

Dr Goodchild has a sub-speciality interest in pancreatobiliary medicine and interventional endoscopy, particularly of the colon, pancreas and bile ducts. He performs gastroscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) which is used in the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cysts, screening for and diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, the assessment of acute and chronic pancreatitis, the diagnosis and treatment of gallstones and the assessment and diagnosis of bile duct strictures due to both benign and cancerous conditions. He also performs balloon dilatation and stenting of strictures of the oesophagus, stomach, duodenum and bowel. 

Dr Goodchild has published widely in the field of diagnostic and advanced interventional endoscopy including diseases of the bile ducts and pancreas such as autoimmune disease, pancreas cysts and early diagnosis and endoscopic treatment of cancer.
